Freda Payne-You’ve Got To Love Somebody(Let It Be Me)

by Tom Drary on September 8, 2010

“You’ve Got To Love Somebody(Let It Be Me)”is from the 1971″Contact”album release by Invictus Records.Writers:W.Weatherspoon/R.Miner. Here is an upbeat record depicting liberating, committing romantic-love conviction and vow of emotional fulfillment. The poetic script artfully sang by Freda with spry bass-guitar band lead and harmonious’vocal backups’ make this one enjoyable song that somehow got missed! It’s truly a love song with heart!

Assuming that every woman – or man – was supportnig the womens liberation movement. 1971…..which of course they weren’t.

for a 1971 song , its out of step with the time ….shes begging for love on the mans terms..this was the age of womans lib, and this woman is telling her man “love me and I”ll put up with anything you do”…thats wouldnt have sold as a single

Well if I had to pick out a song that would be a good choice as a cross-dialog,that would be:”You’re The One For Me”by D-Train.Heard it before? If not check it out in my”Favorites”.It’s a great timeless classic upbeat one-hit-wonder record! So there!

It almost sounds like she is doing an answer to another song.
