Research undertaken by Forrester shows that visitors to media websites are demanding community features. Whilst online communities should not simply be tacked onto existing websites for the sake of adding community features, it should be noted that every website can benefit from community elements if correctly implemented. Online communities need time and dedication of they are too succeed, but avoiding community features altogether could result in your site losing its competitive advantage.
Online community development is not easy, especially if you lack experience in this area. If you simply bolt on a forum but fail to actively promote and encourage interaction, it will fail. Remember that a failing online community can damage the reputation of you and your brand.
Of course, you may get lucky and find that your forum or other community feature is an immediate success as soon as you add it to your site. Such an occurrence would be a miracle, though. Indeed, even if your new community feature became a runaway success it is unlikely that it would be completely free of arguments or abuse without you taking an active interest and involvement in its development.
It takes a lot of effort to develop a successful online community. Blogs are a good starting point for those who do not have previous experience in developing online communities as you retain editorial control and are not relying on significant levels of user-generated content in order to be successful. At the same time, you can still generate a community feeling through the use of the blog commenting system.
If you decide not to add community features simply because you do not have the time or expertise, you will soon find your site falling behind the competition. There are a number of online resources dedicated to sharing knowledge and advice about online community development, and indeed there are even a number of books published on the subject.
A successful online community will see you developing relationships with your visitors and your brand. Not only this, but they make your site stickier. Online communities encourage site loyalty and make your site extremely difficult to imitate. Your site design and layout can easily be copied, but copying the personality and feel of an online community is nigh on impossible.
Communities bring you closer to your audience. You can learn from your audience, just as they can learn from you. Online communities enable you to better understand your visitors and respond to their needs.
Web surfers are no longer looking solely for information. They are after interaction, they want their voice to be heard, and they want to feel valued.
Online communities satisfy these wants and needs. By offering community features you will be securing the long term success of your website.

Everybody has a dream and a plan for making the dream come true. The reason many people fail to fulfill their dream is, they dream more and plan less. Planning is highly essential for fulfilling your dream. But is this planning alone sufficient? You might have seen many excellent planners who plan well and never reach their goals. This is because they lack self esteem. A dream is always a bigger task that requires lot of commitment, dedication and hard work. Success will never come easy. You need to face a few failures for fulfilling your dreams. The failures you cross should correct your mistakes but should not reduce your self esteem. Failures will make us feel low built it is easy to overcome those failures. To boost your self esteem while working for fulfilling your dream, you have to break your dream to many short term goals. Analyze yourself and determine what you can do easily. For tough tasks, give yourself some more time to accomplish the task. Rather than working towards a bigger dream, start working towards short term goals one at a time and you will eventually end up with fulfilling your dream. When you have short term goals in your hands, prioritize them determine the deadline. If you achieve the goal within the deadline, celebrate yourself. Appreciate your inner self that you are powerful enough to complete the task within a short time. When you miss the deadline that you need to improve yourself and start working towards the goal. Never loose your confidence because you are already fulfilling your dream in incremental steps. Whenever you reach a short term goal, remove that item from the list. You will feel much energetic when the items are reducing in the list. Make tasks as smaller as possible so that you can pat yourself every time you accomplish the small task. This self appreciation will greatly help you work more committed towards your goal. If you know that you are powerful, you will be easily able to fulfill the dream. When you have self esteem, you will get along with others more easily with raised confidence. People like proactive persons and you can get necessary help from others for fulfilling your goal. Everything lies within you and you need not search for success outside yourself. If you have the right attitude, you can easily fulfill your dream in a very short period.

Introduction

Everybody who is in the business of New Product Development knows what a complex process it is. This is a multidisciplinary activity requiring coherence between almost all the functions of manufacturing firms.

Until recently though those who were called ‘product designers‘ played in this process a role of rather a secondary importance. They were briefed by marketing, engineering departments, ad agencies with an only task: ‘We want this look nice‘…

Then something went wrong. And those days are over. Today, Design Council Chairman prepares reports to the UK Prime-minister on how ‘UK businesses can stay ahead of their global rivals by drawing on the country’s world-leading design capabilities’. And at Davos, during the World Economic Forum held under the theme ‘The Creative Imperative’, world leaders discuss how to apply design thinking to survive in the uncertainty and complexity global economy brings.

Approach to design in Russia is still at the level of aesthetics and, at best, ergonomics. In the meantime, design can be applied as a strategic business tool at least in the two directions. Inside the company design can become a strong management tool for aligning – and, thus, optimization – all the processes of NPD through focusing on the needs of all stakeholders for whom the product is developed, through creating consumer-based innovation culture. Outside the company designers have proved to be excellent observers researching into people’s unmet needs and, thus, discovering new niches and even new markets.

Developing innovative product: Seven reasons to think about the future is searching into the ways which made design shift from aesthetics towards strategy and discussing how to make most out of design thinking when developing really innovative new products, – both tangible and intangible.

«Only one company can be the cheapest, the others have to use design.»

Rodney Fitch, Chairman Fitch & Co

Reason #1. Fundamental Changes in the World Design IndustryThe industry of design is undergoing deep transformation: from now on design is not only for appearance and style. Design is dramatically changing its role from being simply a tactical device to becoming a strategic business tool.

How does it have to do with NPD?

Design today is playing a much more important role during the first, probably, the most critical phase in the whole process of developing new product. This is a stage of strategic planning when you need to understand what to do, what target audience will be involved, what brand values will be pronounced, what new value to your customer this product will bring. It will not be an overstatement to say that it is from this stage success and failure of the new product depends. After all, it is not by accident that this ‘0‘ phase is called the Fuzzy Front End of Innovation…

What happens with designers today?

They expand their capabilities into new to them areas until then being ‘occupied’ by marketers, brand specialists and management consultants. They obtain degrees in business and anthropology, psychology and ethnography. And more and more they become ‘human factors’ specialists.

«We investigated into fourteen large companies with an annual sales volume from $500 million to $10 billion. We discovered that only four of them had managed to meet plan in terms of timing, functionality of new products and market share. In five cases companies designed new generation’s products which were positively evaluated by experts, but at the end these products failed. As it turned out, every time when in an NPD process difficulties occurred, the roots of problems could easily be found at the stage of early planning, when the company had to decide what design the new product will have.»

«In search for new generation’s product», Harvard Business Review, 2007

Reason #2. Transformation of Consumption Culture

What are the reasons for the changes in the role design plays in NPD?

Technological revolution provides customers with real power in the market. Today, the question of the utmost importance for brands is how to satisfy people who have an almost endless choice reinforced by instant access to global market.

Thus, the main issue of NPD has dramatically changed:

Until recently it was: ‘What technical/organization/financial/manufacturing possibilities for designing new product we have’ (Technology-Driven Strategy);

Now: ‘What else does our customer want?/How can we emphasize with him?/What should we design to make our new brand/product experience as interesting, amazing, exciting as possible’(Consumer-Driven Strategy).

«It’s About Wants, Not Needs.

Consumers are saying they have enough stuff, want more experiences – 59% of them say they have all the material things they need.»

Fitch, 2005

Moreover, fusion of virtual and mobile cultures give people the power to manage their own ‘marketing environment’ regardless of companies business aims:

«3000: Number of advertising messages people are exposed to per day;90%: Proportion of people who can skip TV ads who do skip TV ads;80%: Market share of video recorders with ad skipping technology in 2008; 69%: Proportion of people interested in technology that enable them to skip of block advertising.»

Justin Kirby & Paul Marsden (2006). Connected thinking, Oxford, UK

Reason #3. Marketing Research vs. Design Research

Who meets new challenges?

Traditional marketing tools are good to shape already existed in the market ideas, understand whether these ideas have huge market and potential. All anything, but the larger demand for innovation, the more problems with identifying new product opportunities marketing has. Thus, companies have huge difficulties with identifying unmet customer needs since these are largely latent and not easy to formulate by the customers themselves.

By this, intuitive thinking, qualitative approach used by designers is very good for imagining new possibilities. Designers proved to be those folks who have managed to accomplish traditional marketing research with its design research methods based on approaching to human life in all its complexity and versatility. This was the reason the whole NPD chain turned upside down and today it is not marketers and so called creative agencies tell designers what to do, but design consultancies identify new product opportunities, create design briefs, conduct research, develop a platform for further innovations and even brief ad companies on how to promote the new product.

«Eìery year brings 30,000 new products.About 90% of the fail despite thorough and expensive market research…»

Harvard Business Review, 2005

«If I’d asked people what they wanted, they would have asked for a better horse…»

Henry Ford

Reason #4. From ‘Consumer’ to ‘Human’ Experience

What philosophy is behind design research?

Unlike artificial situations of focus group discussions, designers prefer conducting in-context observations looking at the world through their customers’ eyes, empathizing with the soul, mind and body of customer. Philosophy of Zen Buddhism with its total immersion in reality, attention to ordinary life and day-to-day experiences is possibly the best way to describe how they like approaching to work. Those who combine design thinking with interest in user research are called human fa?tors specialists. They research into total human – not merely customer – experience, investigate how people approach the world, what nuances of interaction with the product, brand, environment is of the most importance for them, what they expect from usage. That’s why in development divisions of many companies we can find such new positions as cognitive psychologists, social anthropologists, cross-cultural specialists who adapt products of global brands to markets with different values and mentality, as well as ethnographers. For example, Intel has more than twenty ethnographers among its employees. Microsoft, British Telecom, AT&T, HP, IBM – these and many other companies hire ethnographers who are excellent at watching people during design research.

If in a focus group you ask your potential user what characteristics should product of the future possess, high chances the answer will be in an area of the already known. At best, you will be said how to improve already existed aspects of using, say, a drill. The point is that the customer comes to a shop not to buy the drill. He is looking for a hole in the wall and you can endlessly redesign drill until some day somebody solves the issue of ‘a hole in the wall’ in some different way. And this will be the innovation.

It is not by accident that design thinking is often called ‘out-of-the-box thinking’: it is this way of thinking which helps come out beyond ‘consumer’ experience approach and see a human who has home and in this home he or she wants harmony and cosiness and to reach these one requires a means of mounting the picture they like to the wall. After all, should it be a drill or something else, for this human is not that important…

Reason #5. Design Thinking – Best Tool to Tackle Tacit Knowledge

But why design??

As a real power in the market goes to the customer, and knowledge worker accumulates critical for companies survival knowledge in his/her head, the problem of efficient dealing with tacit knowledge is becoming a real challenge within businesses and organizations. In other words, New Economy requires new way of thinking to tackle ‘ill-defined’ tacit knowledge – call it synthetic, lateral, innovative, right-brain, divergent and, of course, design thinking. In fact, to go from a business concept of a new product to its actual realization, from the world of idea to its materialization, means to be able to combine together controversial, on the one hand and underdetermined, on the other, demands:1. Consumer’s need in the product or service;2. Viability of new product development for business;3. Feasibility from the point of view of the required technologies.

«In poems, in novels, in painting the brain seems to find itself able to work very well with material that any computer would have rejected as formless.»Norbert Wiener

«Today perceptiveness is more important than analysis.»Peter Drucker

Reason #6. From Product Design to Experience Design

What does all this mean for “new designers”?

An ability to create diverse human experiences, not just physical shapes. Content, not simply form. Workplaces not merely furniture. This is a gift of co-creation, of holistic approach to life and ability to fill it with meaning, emotions and lifestyle drivers.

Today, leading design consultancies position themselves as talents in creating a “complete product, brand, customer experience”. They regard this as their main competitive advantage. And it is well explained: ‘industrial design’ as a creation of the product appearance has moved to the Chinese – the chances you outperform them in therms of speed, price and even quality are neat to zero.

It is quite interesting, that the word “experience” is one of the most difficult for translating into the Russian language…

«Truth cannot be defined, although it can certainly be experienced.

But experience is not a definition. Definition is done by the mind, experience is done by participating. If somebody asks, «What is a dance?» how can you define it? But you can dance and you can know the inner feel of it.»

Osho

Reason #7. From the Knowledge Economy to the Creativity Economy

What does all this mean for businesses?

A new stage in the evolution and, first of all, an urgent search for new type of employees who are able to work with fuzzy, ‘sticky‘ and vague information – the stuff inside employees’ and customers’ heads so critical for companies survival.

That’s why we hear about ‘The Creative Imperative’ and observe deep interest of businesses in design, its methods and tools. For apply of such unique design tools, as design iconography, prototyping, scenario planning, storytelling, storyboards, videos have proved themselves as highly efficient in compressing and transferring multiple and complex concepts in the form which is easy to comprehend by a variety of audiences.

Moreover, design thinking being intrinsically synthetic type of thinking – read, leading to innovation – can be highly appropriate to co-create tacit knowledge of the network by:

1. Tapping tacit knowledge2. Processing it into tangibles3. Transferring it both inside and outside the company.

‘The Knowledge Economy is being eclipsed by the Creativity Economy…

What was once central to corporations — price, quality, and much of the left-brain, digitized analytical work associated with knowledge – is fast being shipped off to lower-paid, highly trained Chinese and Indians, as well as Hungarians, Czechs, and Russians. Increasingly, the new core competence is creativity – the right-brain stuff that smart companies are now harnessing to generate top-line growth. The game is changing. It isn’t just about math and science anymore. It’s about creativity, imagination, and, above all, innovation.’

Business Week, 2005

Questions and more information

Ekaterina KhramkovaCEO, Founding director, Lumiknows

MA: Design & Branding Strategy (Brunel University, UK); PhD (Russian Academy of Sciences); MSc (Moscow State University);Member of the Design Committee by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development;Lecturer at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow on Design Research, Foresight and Trends Forecasting;Coordinator for reddot Design Concept in Russia.

In 2005, Ekaterina was awarded a Chevening scholarship from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British government to enable her to undertake the Masters course in Design and Branding Strategy at Brunel University – one of the first programs in the world designed to bring benefits of design thinking to the needs of business and society.

The cutting edge in technology has enabled cross-cultural communications with online communities gaining prevalence among the masses.

The mediums which have been exploited to attract the online users are forums, blogs, podcasts, message boards, wikis and vlogs.

The social networking sites which have promoted the growth of online communities and have gained the utmost attention are Orkut, MySpace and Facebook apart from the other social media clubs like SEMPO and DFWIMA.

This has obviously led to the advantage of marketing experts to reap revenues out of the online conversions by adopting a definite strategy on one hand while on the other hand the increasing level of interaction between the users for knowledge, information sharing and to seek entertainment.

The segment inherently attached to these networking sites is the today’s generation youngsters who share opinions and their experiences by building up the online community. No doubt that the use of words in a spoken form has been translated into a written textual form and these texts have occupied space in the online communities.

Building an online community requires tools and one of the tools which has replaced the traditional tools of communities is the latest Web 2.0 application which is considered as the most vibrant and potent tool today to build an online community. While building up the online community, extremely fine methods are taken into account in order to increase the participation of these community members. Also called as e-community or virtual community, the online community offers the following benefits:

• Reduced costs of conducting meetings and other costs such as print materials to be sent as letters.• Enables faster reach across the wide sections of society.• Enables a larger customer base and also generates leads in the form of new target audience on a daily basis. • Manifests the database of the participants or members on an immediate and regular basis and accessibility of these centralized data to all the members. One starts wondering why this kind of community has not been utilized by the NGOs who can work out innumerable solutions to reach the underprivileged and the downtrodden. When there are communities from educationists to the musicians and the music lovers across multiple societies, the growth should been much faster. The users on the online communities create and share videos, seek web boards to have multiplayer online games, but all these are just restricted to entertainment and knowledge sharing uptil now. Had this been for the betterment of society by the online groups through creating fund-raisers, it would have worked wonders. There are some religious groups who have created the social communities for their own interests around the world but they have not explored or realized the effectiveness of the online communities.

No doubt, the online communities have put off the technical barriers which was there before 1990. When these communities were being built up, expertise was required and the interest also needed to be generated among the ethnic groups. Never did anybody imagine that online community will grow up to such an extent that even the not so geeks can make use of it.

AOL and Yahoo were the sites which gave rise to the groups formed under the online community with much less technical know-how.

Most of the IT pro organizations have developed their communities to facilitate the wide gamut of knowledge sharing and enable success in business. The online users can also have an access to the latest newsletters, latest product updates, new technology by participating on a shared platform.

One can seek professional as well as personal growth by becoming a member of online community. What more, you can talk, create, blog, listen to music and play by actively participating in these online communities. From strangers to friends every thing has been possible.

The marketers have realized the importance and are making all efforts to reap the rewards on a commercial basis. Yahoo who created a special portal for the fandom of brands suggests the growing potential of these communities. These online communities have also brought relationship marketing to the fore.

Striving for a life that is empowering and fulfilling is, for many of us difficult to achieve. With questions such as where to start, or what priorities you set, it may seem like just a dream. It’s not, and attaining the life you long for and deserve is definitely attainable.
Personal empowerment is absolutely attainable. With these 5 steps you begin your path towards actually attaining the fulfillment you are searching for.
#1 Modify your way of thinking. By eliminating, or at least reducing the negative self-talk we tend to engage in from time to time, you are taking one of the most powerful steps to leading a positive, fulfilling life.
Respect and embrace yourself as the beautiful and unique you, with all your strength and weaknesses. Combined with positive self-talk, this is the beginning of your new empowered and fulfilling life.
#2 Consider and understand the fact that you are a complete being. Physical, mental and emotional health, even spiritual health are all woven as intricately as a web to create one whole being – you. Any part of this web that becomes out of balance can result in your entire being becoming off balance. For example your health is affected if you are suffering from some sort of depression. If you are stressed about something, it will affect both your emotional and physical health. When you find yourself lacking in faith and confidence in your spiritual being, this too can affect both your emotional and physical health.
Strive for balance in all areas of your being in order to achieve fulfillment. To live a complete and balanced life you need to work towards good physical and emotional or mental health, as well as seek spiritual guidance for spiritual health.
#3 Remember to practice personal care. When establishing your to do list you should be putting yourself first. This is not a selfish act, it happens to be quite selfless. The people around you will not be getting the very best from you if you are not happy and fulfilled. Begin choosing a little time every day to care for yourself so you can be happy and fulfilled, for both yourself and others.
Take part in some sort of physical exercise, eat healthy, meditate, laugh and pray if that is something that brings you some form of spiritual contentment. Read a good book, relax in a bubble bath, or even go for a massage. Your personal empowerment and fulfillment will benefit from these small bits of self care.
#4 Try something different. You probably have a list of things you have always wanted to do, or have thought about trying. Maybe it’s something on the extreme side, like skydiving or rock climbing, or a little more on the safe side such as needle crafts, cooking or even financial management. When you become engaged in life and its many exciting options, self empowerment is right around the corner.
#5 Discover and achieve your goals. When you achieve something from your goal’s list, the feeling inside can be almost magical. You become filled with confidence and pride, and set on the path toward more success in the future. By setting goals that are achievable yet challenging is the key to finding success. Take for example the person who wants to start their own business. By setting smaller goals, you will gradually be growing alongside your new business. Once you achieve any small goal you will find another right behind it, guiding you towards that one single long term goal of a successful small business.
Personal empowerment begins by choosing the path and pursuing it. Once that choice is made, each small step you take will change the approach you have on life, and will become the largest impact on your way to personal fulfillment.

The torah (law of Moses) contains prophetic implications going all the way to the end of days and it is essential we grasp these foundational truths of eschatology. The Messiah is prophesied to come as the suffering servant and lamb of God in Isaiah 53 and in the spring feasts. He came to gather the firstfruits of His people unto Himself. In His 2nd coming pictured in the fall feasts He is coming back as King and Judge of all the earth! *thanks Adira for the info. of truth.

It is a well-known fact that a well-designed logo makes or breaks the image of a company. Most people know that all the leading organizations and brands of the world have their own individual logo that sets them apart from the rest of the pack. When people go out to purchase a product, they recognize the same more by the design of the organizations logo rather than by their products. Hence it pays to select proper logo design services to create an eye-catching logo for your company. Just do a bit of research and if required check out on the internet and you will come across organizations that specialize in logo design and most of them have their own portfolio. They send their representative with a collection of the designs that they have created. For other clients and this will help you to decide whether you can entrust them with the task of logo design services for your organization or not. There are many organizations that depend on the words of the alphabet for their organization’s logo design. They just select a font face that is matching the image of their organization and make subtle changes to the same for their organizations logo. Case in point is the logo of the famous PC manufacturer, “Dell” They have used a simple type for their corporate logo design. Just tilting the letter `E’ has given a new dimension to that word and nobody who has seen their logo once will ever forget it.This is what logo design services should be able to offer. They should be able to dream up and deliver a design that will be attractive and at the same time simple. People should co-relate a product with that logo and once this is achieved, the organization can be sure that an Englishman seeing their ads in China can recognize them. Even though the Englishman does not recognize the Chinese characters, he can be sure that the ad being displayed on the massive billboard is of a particular organization because they have been able to interpret the logo and have co-related it with a particular product and a specific brand image. Before you select an organization offering logo design services for creating the masthead of your organization, make sure that they have got the capability to deliver logos that speak for themselves. Request them to send their sales representatives along with samples of their work. It is not necessary that the organization you will be hiring for a professional logo design should have done work for reputed international organizations. Check out the quality of their work for that is what goes into making a successful or unsuccessful logo. You will be amazed to hear that professional designers or artists have not designed some of the revered logos in the world.People who do not hold a degree in painting or draftsmanship have created them. People like you and me have created them. People who have a passion and ability for creating something better than the standard have designed them. The custom logo designs of these organizations started off by simple ads in the papers. People were requested if they were willing to become famous and earn riches overnight. Those who read the ad found out that they could earn millions and a place in the annals of history by creating the custom logo design of a company. Of the thousands of designs received by the organization, one got selected and the rest is history. You need not believe my story. Get in touch with any leading business logo design agency and tell them this story. They will tell you that this case is not related to just one organization, but a number of famous organizations have had their logo designed in this manner. Logo design services are all about having a creative mind on one’s shoulders. The perfect designer should have a spirit of never say die and must be willing to churn out hundreds of permutations and combination using a few pre-selected designs and text and make them into an outstanding work of art. There are many budding artists who want to join reputed logo design services but cannot stay over there for long because they do not have the patience. They want to create a design in 1-2 days and desire that they gain instant recognition all over the world for the logo they shall be designing. Most artists who posses these mindsets are those who rely too much on professional designing programs. These programs come pre-built with thousands of designs and all one needs to do is select any one of the designs that has got a resemblance to the design the client has approved. These new generation artists then make minor changes to the readymade design and colors and add some text to the same and presto! They have created a logo successfully in less than a day. Logo design services that employ such artists armed with those programs can never strike it rich.It has taken world-renowned graphic designers up to 3 months to come up with a basic idea and this new entrant is trying to achieve that feat in less than a day? This is not what professional logo design services is all about. One has to visualize the design from the eyes of the general public. The logo should have a mass appeal. It should convey the feelings of the organization it is being designed for and yet it should be simple enough so that viewers can associate it with a brand name or a product. Check out the studios of reputed logo design services organizations. The scraps over there will tell you the story of the pains that an artist undertakes before he/ she is able to come out with a successful logo. Logo designing is not such a simple task, as it seems.
